Ergonomics
We Provide a corporate ergonomics package which includes an educational power point presentation, individualized workstation assessments done at the employees' workstations and educational/reminder posters and/or a computer screensaver. As part of the package we can also provide a monthly informative newsletter and sport injury/MOT clinics. The latest and largest addition to this package is 'The Little Nudge', an innovative computer/tablet/smart phone application. It is a little program that sits in the background on an employee's computer and at user-determined intervals, reminds the employee to perform a simple exercise or offers the employee a valuable piece of advise regarding ergonomics. Its non invasive yet very effective at improving an employee's posture and work habits, thereby reducing the chance of work related or work aggravated injuries.
The package is currently being provided by Andre and Craig, as a pair. They are able to complete 20 workstation assessments per day (this is based on a presentation done in the morning and in the afternoon to the employees prior to the assessment). This arrangement of course is flexible depending on the client's requirements.
Our individual assessments are based on the Health and Safety Executive's recommendations and usually begin by discussing any pre-existing injuries/conditions that the employee may have and giving physiotherapy advice if appropriate. Then we look at aspects of the workstation such as the computer monitor, desktop, chair and the surrounding environment. During the assessment we make recommendations or suggestions about ways to improve the setup and the employee's posture. This may include something as simple as ensuring a telephone is within reach to recommending a new type of chair or desk. We do not sell office equipment so we don't push new, costly workstation additions to clients. All we do is make recommendations based on the guidelines set out by the Health and Safety Executive, and our common sense. At the end of the service the client is presented with a report for each employee assessed (this can take a few days or up to a number of weeks depending on the number of employees assessed and the client's requirements).
